Walt Disney World has made significant progress on the highly anticipated Tropical Americas land at Disney's Animal Kingdom, with nine new electrical permits filed by Walt Disney Imagineering for the ambitious transformation of the former DinoLand USA area.
The comprehensive permit filings reveal electrical work planned across multiple locations throughout the new themed land, including both major attractions and supporting facilities. This latest development signals that construction is advancing steadily on what promises to be one of the most significant expansions in Disney's Animal Kingdom history.
What Areas Will the Tropical Americas Electrical Work Cover?
The nine permits, all contracted to Pro Audio Video Inc., span the entire footprint of the former DinoLand USA. Pro Audio Video Inc. has established itself as a trusted Disney partner, recently working on the Animation Courtyard reimagining at Disney's Hollywood Studios and numerous other Walt Disney World projects.
The electrical work will support both of the major new attractions planned for the area: the eagerly awaited Encanto dark ride and the transformation of DINOSAUR into an Indiana Jones adventure. Additionally, the permits cover various dining, retail, and guest service locations throughout the land.
Where Exactly Will Construction Take Place in Tropical Americas?
The detailed permit addresses provide fascinating insight into the scope of the Disney's Animal Kingdom Tropical Americas construction:
Two key locations will house the new Encanto attraction: 504 DinoLand Drive and 610 DinoLand Drive. This beloved Disney film will come to life through cutting-edge Imagineering technology in what's expected to be a family-friendly dark ride experience.
The former DINOSAUR attraction at 501 Restaurantosaurus Road will undergo a complete transformation to become the new Indiana Jones ride. Meanwhile, the old Restaurantosaurus restaurant at 601 Restaurantosaurus Road will be reimagined as a quick-service hacienda, offering guests authentic Latin American cuisine.
Several former DinoLand locations will receive new purposes: the old Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures shop (590 DinoLand Drive), the former Donald Duck meet and greet area (594 DinoLand Drive), and the previous Dino-Bite Snacks dining location (672 DinoLand Drive).
Perhaps most excitingly, 671 DinoLand Drive—the former entrance to The Boneyard playground—will become the approximate location of a stunning new hand-carved wooden carousel, adding a charming family attraction to the land's offerings.
