The Rafiki statue has been removed from the Rafiki's Planet Watch sign at Disney's Animal Kingdom as the area transitions to Conservation Station ahead of Bluey's Wild World opening on 26 May 2026. The sign has been covered with a new tarp in May 2026, marking another step in the transformation of the former Lion King-themed area.
What changes are happening at Rafiki's Planet Watch?
The area formerly known as Rafiki's Planet Watch is being rebranded as Conservation Station to accommodate the new Bluey-themed experiences. The iconic Rafiki statue that previously adorned the entrance sign has been confirmed as removed, though it remains unconfirmed whether the "Rafiki's Planet Watch" lettering has also been changed.
The sign was previously covered with tarp in February 2026, but has received a new covering in May as work continues on the transition. Whether the entire sign has been replaced beyond the statue removal remains unconfirmed.
When does Bluey's Wild World open at Animal Kingdom?
Bluey's Wild World opens on 26 May 2026 as part of Disney's Cool Kids' Summer initiative. The new experience will feature games, dancing, and meet and greet opportunities with Bluey and Bingo characters from the popular Australian children's programme.
The meet and greet with Bluey and Bingo is expected to take place at the former Animation Experience location, though this specific location remains unconfirmed. Bluey-inspired treats will also be available throughout the area.
What will replace the existing Animal Kingdom attractions?
The current Affection Section will be transformed into Jumping Junction, featuring Australian animals that tie into the Bluey theme. This represents a shift from the previous Lion King focus to the new Australian-inspired content.
Conservation Station will maintain its educational mission whilst incorporating the Bluey characters and Australian wildlife theme. The area will continue to serve as an important part of Animal Kingdom's conservation messaging.
Are there other Bluey experiences coming to Disney World?
A new Animation Academy featuring Bluey content is planned to open at Disney's Hollywood Studios later in summer 2026, though specific dates remain unconfirmed. This will expand the Bluey presence across multiple Disney World parks.
