Construction continues to move forward at Disney Lakeshore Lodge, with a major new feature now visible at the front of the resort. A large structure has been installed at the main lobby entrance, forming the framework of the future porte cochere.
At the moment, the entrance is framed out in red steel, with reinforced concrete supports at the base and blue tarping covering the top. Once complete, this covered drive through area will allow vehicles to pull directly up to the lobby, making arrivals and departures smoother for guests checking in and out of the resort.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge is being built alongside Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, overlooking Bay Lake. The project sits on the former site of River Country, Disney’s first water park, which closed permanently in the early 2000s.
The new resort is currently expected to open in 2027, and this latest construction milestone is another clear sign that progress is accelerating as Disney transforms this long unused corner of Walt Disney World.
