If you’re planning a stay at Walt Disney World early this year, there’s a small update to be aware of if Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is on your shortlist.

Disney has confirmed that the Surfboard Bay Pool and the nearby kiddie pool will be closed for refurbishment starting in January 2026. The work is expected to run through to late April, covering much of the winter and early spring season. The notice has already been added to Disney’s website, giving guests plenty of time to plan ahead.

Surfboard Bay is the main pool at All-Star Sports and is hard to miss thanks to its oversized surfboards and colourful theming. While it’s out of action, the resort won’t be completely without swimming options. The Grand Slam Leisure Pool, the smaller baseball themed pool with the Goofy fountain, will stay open throughout the refurbishment.

Guests will also be able to take advantage of pools at the neighbouring All-Star resorts. That includes the Calypso and Piano Pools at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, as well as the Fantasia Pool and Duck Pond Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Kiddie pools at both resorts will also remain available.

This looks to be a routine maintenance project rather than a major overhaul, something Disney regularly schedules to keep its resorts in good shape. If pool time is a big part of your holiday plans, it’s worth keeping this closure in mind when booking, especially if Surfboard Bay was a highlight for you.
