The limited time TRON: Ares overlay at Magic Kingdom now has an official end date.
Walt Disney World has confirmed that the special overlay on TRON Lightcycle Run will conclude on January 19, bringing the experience to a close just over four months after it debuted in mid September.
The overlay launched ahead of the release of TRON: Ares, transforming the attraction’s look and feel. The ride’s signature blue lighting was swapped for a striking red colour scheme, which also carried through to the on ride photo. Guests also experienced new Master Control narration, alongside a soundtrack inspired by the film and featuring music by Nine Inch Nails.
Following the final day of the overlay, the standard version of TRON Lightcycle Run will return on January 20, restoring the attraction to its original presentation.
With the overlay coming to an end, the question now is whether Disney might bring it back in the future as a seasonal or limited time offering.
What were your thoughts on the TRON: Ares overlay, and would you like to see it return again?
