Disney has officially confirmed that Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open on 26th May 2026 at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The highly anticipated transformation of the former Aerosmith-themed attraction promises to bring beloved characters and chaotic humour to one of Walt Disney World's most thrilling roller coasters.
The revamped attraction represents Disney's swift response to fan concerns following the closure of MuppetVision 3D. By repurposing the existing coaster infrastructure, Disney aims to preserve The Muppets' presence in the theme parks whilst delivering an entirely fresh experience for guests.
When Does Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Open?
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens on 26th May 2026, coinciding with Memorial Day weekend in the United States. This strategic timing ensures maximum exposure during one of Disney World's busiest holiday periods, when many British families traditionally plan their Florida holidays.
The opening date confirms earlier rumours that circulated throughout the Disney community. To achieve this ambitious timeline, Disney removed the original Aerosmith pre-show elements in late 2025 and began extensive theming work throughout the attraction.
What Changes Are Coming to the Muppets Roller Coaster?
The reimagined attraction maintains the core Rock 'n' Roller Coaster experience whilst introducing distinctly Muppet-flavoured storytelling. Guests will still visit G-Force Records, but the studio is now owned by Scooter's uncle J.P. Grosse, a character familiar to long-time Muppet fans.
The Electric Mayhem band - featuring Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot, and Lips - takes centre stage as the musical act running late for their concert across town. True to Muppet tradition, chaos ensues, and guests board specially modified limousines created by the wonderfully unreliable Muppet Labs to reach the venue on time.
Disney's Imagineers are completely repainting the iconic giant guitar and upside-down car that greet guests outside the attraction. These landmark features will receive fresh Muppet-inspired colour schemes and detailing to match the new theming.
How Will MuppetVision 3D Elements Be Incorporated?
Following the permanent closure of MuppetVision 3D to make way for the new Monstropolis area, Disney plans to preserve beloved elements from the classic 3D film experience. Props and memorabilia from MuppetVision 3D will be strategically placed throughout the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster queue, creating a moving tribute to the departed attraction.
