Construction walls around Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios have been removed, revealing the attraction's newly painted Electric Mayhem-themed guitar for the first time since work began in March. The walls came down on 2nd May, exactly two months after they were installed, giving guests their first proper look at the Muppets transformation ahead of the ride's Memorial Day weekend opening.
What can guests see now that the Rock n Roller Coaster Muppets walls are down?
The most striking change is the giant guitar, which now sports a vibrant new Electric Mayhem-influenced paint scheme replacing the previous Aerosmith design. The colourful makeover reflects the attraction's shift from its rock band theme to featuring The Muppets' own musical group.
The upside-down car display also received finishing touches at the end of March and is now visible to passing guests. However, some exterior work remains incomplete, with the piano keys painting still in progress.
Currently, wheeled planters block the ride entrance whilst final preparations continue inside the attraction.
When does the Electric Mayhem Rock n Roller Coaster Memorial Day weekend opening happen?
Disney has confirmed the attraction will open during Memorial Day weekend, though the specific date within that period remains unconfirmed. Cast Member previews are scheduled to begin on 6th May on select dates leading up to the public opening.
Disney has not specified which dates will feature these preview sessions or how long the preview period will last. The previews are available to Cast Members and Disney employees.
What changes are coming inside Rock n Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets?
The queue area will feature significant Muppets theming, including Muppet props, Electric Mayhem posters, and celebrity cameos. According to the storyline, G-Force Records has been purchased by Scooter's uncle J.P. Grosse, providing the narrative framework for the Muppets takeover.
Timeline of the Muppets roller coaster construction
The original Aerosmith version of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster closed on 1st March, with construction walls going up the following day on 2nd March. The two-month closure period has allowed Disney to complete the major exterior transformation whilst working on interior changes.
